Donald was born on January 19, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to George and Marie (Schmidt) Day. He graduated from West Tech High School in January of 1950, Case Institute of Technology (BS Metallurgical Engineering) June of 1954 and University of Akron (MS Management) June of 1975.
Donald came to live in Kearney, Nebraska in 2011.
Among his many activities that added many years to his life in Kearney were the Loper Baseball team, Peterson Senior Activity Center, Tehama Shrine (Hastings NE), Ft. Kearney Shrine Club, Rob Morris Lodge # 46 A.F. and A.M. Nebraska Woodcarvers, and his many friends scattered throughout the Kearney area.
Donald loved baseball and enjoyed watching young men play the game they love. The Donald Day Memorial Scholarship Fund will go to help baseball players from the Central Nebraska area fulfill their baseball dreams.
